School scholarships: which have closed for 2027, and when to watch for the next call.
Many Kibra families ask KNN when school scholarships open. Most of the big ones are not taking applications right now. Here is where each stands and when to look out.
M-Pesa Foundation Academy: scholarships for January 2027 entry closed on 15 May 2026. The academy looks for learners in Grade 9, aged 14 to 16, with financial need.
Zawadi Africa Education Fund (girls with an A or A- at KCSE): the 2026 Kenya round closed on 16 March. The fund says applications open every February.
KCB Foundation Scholars Programme: the last call, for the 2026 intake, came out in December 2025. It asked for Meeting Expectation (ME1) or above in all learning areas, with forms at any KCB branch and interviews in each county. No 2027 call has been published yet.
Equity Group Foundation Wings to Fly: applications are made at Equity branches, agents or the foundation's online portal. No 2027 dates have been published.
Mastercard Foundation Scholars at USIU-Africa: the call goes out about five months before each May and September intake. The age limit is 29, or 32 for refugees, displaced youth and people with disabilities. It covers tuition, a laptop, housing and meals, medical cover, a stipend and transport. No deadline is posted right now.
