Kibera Soccer FC want a top-five finish in their first NSL season, says Shikanda.
Kibera Soccer FC go into their first National Super League season aiming for the top five. Coach Iddi Shikanda is not ruling out more.
"Our target is to finish among the top five teams, if not winning the NSL this season," he told Citizen Digital.
The club won promotion from Division One last season after five straight attempts. Shikanda has kept most of the squad that got them there and brought in only a handful of new players.
"These players have played together for so many years. I introduced the winning mentality, treating each game as a final," he said.
He points to Sofapaka, who came up from the NSL in 2009 and won the Premier League in the same year, as proof that a newly promoted side can climb quickly.
What is missing
A start date. FKF has fixed 19 September for the Premier League but has not said when the NSL begins, because of the continuing Kariobangi Sharks court case. Kibera Soccer will be one of two Kibra clubs in the division alongside Kibera Black Stars, which means the second tier gets a Kibera derby for the first time.
KNN will carry both clubs' fixtures and results in this section once the season starts.
