Two government funds lend to young people and small traders. Here is what each says it offers.

Hustler Fund

  • How: dial *254# on Safaricom, Airtel or Telkom.
  • What: personal loans, group loans and bridge loans, plus compulsory and voluntary savings.
  • New: a Tukuze Hub launched in July 2026 for borrowers with a good repayment record.
  • Help: call 100 or email info@hustlerfund.go.ke.

The fund’s website says 28.15 million people have signed up for personal loans and Sh74.4 billion has been lent. It reports 58,713 borrowing groups with 1.48 million members, and 973,625 bridge-loan customers who have borrowed Sh16.15 billion. These are the fund’s own figures. The website does not list loan limits or interest. Check both on *254# before you borrow.

Youth Enterprise Development Fund

The Youth Fund lists these loans: Stawi, E-YES, Agri-Biz, Asset Finance, Go Green Finance, Migration, LPO/LSO Financing (for government tenders), Talanta, VIBE (Vijana in Blue Economy) and Vuka.

Loan sizes and interest are not on its homepage. Ask before you apply: info@youthfund.go.ke, 020 2211672 or 0723 522 841.
