Crowds light candles for Raila at Uhuru Park. The dates that matter next: Kakamega on 9 October, Bondo on 14 and 15 October, Nairobi on 31 October.
Uhuru Park filled up on Friday 2 October for the candle-lighting that opened ODM's month of remembrance for Raila Odinga, who died on 15 October last year. Music started at 3pm, candles were lit at 6pm, and from 7pm his life story was projected onto the KICC tower. Parallel events were held at Central Square in Kisumu and Treasury Square in Mombasa.
"One year ago, Kenya lost a giant. We lost Baba," said ODM chairperson Gladys Wanga. Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris and Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo were among those at Uhuru Park. Embakasi East MP Babu Owino held a separate candle-lighting at Jacaranda grounds.

What it means for Kibra
Nobody is authorised to collect money for the anniversary. Treat anyone doing so in Kibra as a fraud.
No Kibra-specific event has been announced. KNN has asked local ODM officials whether one is planned.
If you are travelling to Bondo for 14 and 15 October, book early and travel in daylight.
Expect a large gathering in Nairobi on Saturday 31 October. Traffic plans will follow the venue announcement.
