Kenyan journalists get until 20 October to enter Russia-focused media award.
Kenyan journalists, bloggers and media houses now have until 20 October 2026 to enter the 5th Honest View International Media Award, after organisers pushed the deadline back from 4 October.
The award is run by Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian government's agency for international humanitarian cooperation, and recognises work about Russia published outside the country. In an invitation sent to Kenyan newsrooms this week, the organising committee said it hopes to see journalists and bloggers from Kenya among this year's entrants.
Entries are judged in six categories: the Grand Prix for contribution to objective coverage of Russia; best material on economic and social partnership; culture and traditions, a view from abroad; professional view, for genre journalism such as reportage, investigations, documentaries and essays; new voice, for journalists aged 18 to 25; and digital recognition, for the best project about Russia on social media, including video blogs, podcasts and Telegram channels.
Anyone aged 18 and over living outside Russia can enter, including freelance journalists and bloggers, as can media companies registered outside Russia. Work can be in any language. Online articles are submitted as links with screenshots showing the page address, content and publication date, while TV and radio pieces must be at least 150 seconds long and come with an air certificate from the station.
The total prize fund is 7 million roubles, roughly KSh 10.9 million, shared across the categories in cash and other prizes. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Moscow in November 2026, with organisers covering flights, visas and hotel accommodation for foreign winners and guests. Young entrants in the new voice category may also be picked for a media school held in Moscow in the days before the ceremony.
Under the published rules, entered work must have appeared between 26 November 2025 and 4 October 2026. Entrants whose work was published after 4 October should check with organisers whether that window has moved with the deadline.
Applications are made through the online form at (the site is in Russian, with an English toggle), which asks for the entrant's name, country, email, outlet, category, the title and link of the work, and a short summary of up to 1,000 characters. Questions can be sent to info.honestview@gmail.com.
