Two checks to make before you take a job abroad, employment authority says.
The National Employment Authority is asking Kenyans to make two checks before paying anyone for work outside the country.
The two checks
Confirm the recruitment agency is registered, through the NEA Integrated Management System portal
Confirm the specific job being advertised also appears on the same portal
"Job seekers should verify the specific overseas job being advertised and ensure that the opportunity can be independently confirmed through the NEAIMS portal," the authority said.
Why now
The Authority says 390 cases of alleged labour and travel agency fraud are under investigation. Of those, 116 involve unregistered travel agents. Fifteen files have been completed and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
