Harambee Starlets forward Esse Akida has left Kibera Soccer Women at the end of a nine-month contract.

“My time at Kibera Soccer Women FC has come to an end, and I leave with a heart full of gratitude,” she wrote on social media, in a post reported by The Star. She singled out head coach George Okallo for his guidance and belief in her.

Akida joined Kibera in October 2025 after a year away from football. She had left Greek club PAOK in 2024.

At Kibera she was made captain in January and scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Gideon Starlets in March. The club finished third in the Women’s Premier League with 34 points, its best league finish, ahead of Trinity Starlets on goal difference.

Her next club has not been announced. The Star reports she will pursue “the next phase of her comeback”.

Her departure came days before the club announced five new players and an assistant coach, and days before the league starts.
