Kibera Black Stars finished the 2025/26 National Super League ninth of 20 teams, on 53 points from 38 games: 15 wins, eight draws and 15 defeats, 32 goals scored and 33 conceded. Champions Migori Youth finished on 81.

The start

The season opened on 28 September 2025 with a 0-1 home defeat to Talanta. Black Stars then won four of their next five: 1-0 at Kisumu All Stars, 1-0 against Michael Olunga FA, 3-2 at Nairobi City Stars and 2-0 at MCF, with a 0-0 draw against Nzoia in between. By 7 November The Star was calling them “leaders Kibera Black Stars” ahead of a home game against Equity at Hope Centre, Kawangware.

The collapse

They lost that game 0-1, and the next four: 0-2 at Soy United, 0-1 at home to Darajani Gogo in the Kibra derby, 0-1 at Kabati Youth and 0-2 at 3K. Five defeats in a row, without scoring.

The best result of the season came on 17 December: a 1-0 win over eventual champions Migori Youth. They also beat Mombasa United, who finished third, 2-0 in April, and won 2-1 at Talanta in March.

The February window

Coach Idd Badi brought in goalkeeper Evans Omondi from Mara Sugar, Joshua Melo from Darajani Gogo and Donald Ange and Glen Odhiambo from Mathare United, and appointed former Harambee Stars midfielder Tom Juma as his assistant. Donald Omwanda scored a late winner against Soy United, ending Soy’s seven-game unbeaten run. In early March, eighth on 33 points and 13 behind the leaders, Badi said the club was “firmly in the race for promotion”. They also won the return derby at Darajani Gogo 1-0 on 7 March.

The finish

The last win was 1-0 at Luanda Villa on 19 April. Black Stars went winless in their last nine matches, with five draws and four defeats, ending with a 0-1 loss at Nzoia Sugar on 13 June. They failed to score in 13 of 38 games, but kept eight clean sheets at home.

In the Mozzart Bet Cup they went out to FC Dynamo on penalties in February after a 2-2 draw. FKF’s top-scorer list for the NSL was not published, so the club’s leading scorer is not on record.
