How Kibera Soccer FC won promotion: Zone B champions after a 1-0 at Kenya Police Youth.
Kibera Soccer FC won FKF Division One Zone B on Sunday 21 June 2026, beating hosts Kenya Police Youth 1-0 in the final round to seal promotion to the National Super League for the first time.
"It is a dream come true. It's a dream of every coach to guide the team to the next level. It feels good to be champions," coach Idd Shikanda told The Star. "Despite the challenges here and there, we have had a good run. I want to thank the management and sponsors."
Shikanda joined the club for the second half of the season. Citizen Digital reported this month that promotion came at the fifth attempt.
Who else went up
Three other Division One winners were promoted with them: Spitfire FC (Zone A), Kiminini Combined (Zone C, the first club from Trans Nzoia to reach the NSL) and Mfalme FC (Zone D). They replace Darajani Gogo, MCF, Vihiga United and Mwatate United, "subject to several cases in the Sports Disputes Tribunal and other courts", as The Star put it. Those cases are still running.
The record
FKF's league platform lists Kibera Soccer's base as Kibera, Nairobi County, but does not carry the men's Division One table, so the club's points total and top scorers are not published. In the 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup they beat Garissa United 5-0 and Ishiara 3-0 before losing 1-5 at Murang'a Seal. In March 2023 they drew Gor Mahia in the FKF Cup.
A year before promotion, on 29 March 2025, they lost a Kibra derby 2-1 to Kibra United at Gems Cambridge. The two clubs shared Zone B; Kibra United stay in Division One.
Kibera Soccer's home ground for the NSL has not been announced.
