Kenya’s sevens team won the Africa Men’s Sevens title at Cascavelle in Mauritius on Sunday 4 October, beating Madagascar 15-12 in the final a day after losing 26-0 to the same side in the pool.

Shujaa, who travelled with four debutants, beat Namibia 34-12 and Réunion in Pool B before the loss to Madagascar, then beat South Africa 15-0 in the semi-final. In the final, Rayvone Ambale scored a try and converted it, Gabriel Ayimba added a second try, and Glacious Owino kicked the winning penalty after the final hooter, according to Mozzart Sport and TV47. K24 counts it as Kenya’s seventh African title.

The squad of 12 was coached by Kevin Wambua, with Elvis Olukusi and Ambale as co-captains. Patrick Sabatia, Owino, Dennis Livoi and Lucky Onyango made their debuts.
