The High Court has issued interim orders stopping Standard Group from repeating or circulating reports that link Charlene Ruto, the President’s daughter, to a Sh2.8 billion tender for Kenya Police Service uniforms.

The orders follow two stories the paper ran on August 30: a front-page feature headlined “THE TRAIL…” and a page-six story headlined “Police uniform tender trail links Alusala teacher and First Family”.

Charlene Ruto had written to the publisher demanding a correction and a retraction before filing the suit.

What the police say

The National Police Service has said Nalitex Limited, the firm named in the reports, did not take part in the procurement, and that the contract went to Bedi Investments Limited.

The respondents have seven days to file their responses. The matter is due for mention on October 19.
