Woodley Stadium: Kibra’s only stadium has been shut since 2020. Sakaja says works are ‘ongoing’.
Woodley Stadium, next to Joseph Kang'ethe Hall, is the only stadium in Kibra. It was built more than 50 years ago by the area's Scottish community and sold to the City Council after independence. Before it closed for renovation in 2020, more than 30 teams and the school games used it, and it hosted the Ramadhani Cup and Alswafa FC's home matches.
The money
Governor Johnson Sakaja broke ground at Woodley and City Stadium on 10 August 2023, with "close to Sh600 million" set aside for the two in the 2023/24 budget: an initial Sh390 million plus Sh238.9 million approved in the supplementary budget.
By July 2024 the pitch was overgrown. Woodley MCA Davidson Ngibuini told Pulse Sports the contractor had been paid seven months late, withdrew, and had the contract terminated; the job was re-tendered and awarded to a new contractor.
In January 2025 Sakaja said "the Woodley one is moving on swiftly", promising terraces, changing rooms and playing surfaces. On 21 August 2026, at the 70%-complete Kihumbuini Stadium in Kangemi, he said "the same works are ongoing at Woodley Stadium and City Stadium". He gave no completion date or percentage for Woodley.
Where the clubs play instead
Kibera Black Stars and Darajani Gogo both list Vapor Grounds in Kawangware as their home on FKF's league platform. Black Stars have also used Hope Centre in Kawangware, Gems Cambridge College and Jamhuri Sports Ground. Kibra United play at Gems Cambridge and Nairobi West Prisons Ground. Kibera Soccer FC's NSL home has not been announced. Inside Kibra itself, Laini Saba grounds hosted Mathare United's charity match in March 2026, and DC Grounds hosted the Football Mums tournament in April.
Woodley ward is one of the ten covered by the county's new ten-year land-use plan, which goes to public forums from 23 September (KNN report).
