Kenya host Eritrea in an AFCON 2027 qualifier at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, 26 September, before travelling to Guinea.
What the players want
Their allowances. K24 puts the arrears at about Sh80,000 per player, from the Senegal and Lesotho matches. Pulse Sports says the debt goes back to the games against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal in November 2025, and two games against Lesotho in June 2026.
Better hotels for home and away games.
Better flights, without long stopovers.
K24 reports the players asked to meet President William Ruto or Sports Ministry officials.
What the coach said
Head coach Benni McCarthy backed his players, saying their welfare comes first, and called on the relevant authorities to step in.
He also said he and his foreign technical staff have worked in Kenya for about a year and a half without work permits.
What FKF said
Football Kenya Federation said on 23 September that the Sports Ministry had cleared one outstanding payment, expected to reach players by Thursday, 24 September. It said other payments are "at different stages of processing".
On the work permits, FKF said it is working with the relevant government agencies and "the process is ongoing".
For the squad, see Olunga, Okumu back as McCarthy names 38-man Harambee Stars squad.
